About Steinbart
When I was about thirteen years old, a colossal kid jumped into my back from the five-metre-platform in the public swimming pool. I drowned right then and there and died for a while, but the lifeguard who had been waiting for this opportunity his entire career, scraped me off the bottom of the pool and brought me back to life. All I don't remember was how nice it felt to be dead.
About half a decade later I produced a few tears on my teacher's cheek with a story about a little heart that stopped beating. Homework assignment, free writing. I must have hit an exposed nerve. Overwhelmed by the discovery of my seemingly magical powers I started writing poems (to be read as foreplay), later short stories and all kinds of madness published across various outlets on the world's wide web.
The next couple of years I spent my days with larifari attempts to fit in and the nights with the writing of weird fiction which I subsequently published on my website Linkes Auge hinkt. I also started to carve out the idea of the three books.
In the year 2013 I published the novel Seltenheim, the first one of the three books. Seltenheim ends with the main character motoring out of a river, alone on a small sailboat which was given to him by a beautiful girl to save his life.
About five years and a series of inexplicable coincidences later, I find myself on an old sailboat heading out of a river, and I have as much knowledge about the mariners-gig as Seltenheim had: Close to none.
Forward another seven years and I have now become a sailor. I still live and travel on the very same boat, together with the cat. The boat is a Trident Warrior and is called Mahala. She is a sloop-rigged long-keel, built in England in 1979. A tough old lady who has carried us across the oceans, comforting us and handing out courage in times of full trousers.
I like to wear black suits and Redbacks and I write almost everything in longhand first. For that I have used the same pen for over 16 years. Also, I don't believe in coincidence.
